Ants on the screen for cats
Yellow ants march, blue beetles stop and start, and little white flies zigzag across the screen. When your cat taps one, it scurries away.
Settings
In full screen there are no buttons your cat can hit. To leave, a person holds the corner circle for two seconds.
End with a real catch. Bugs on the screen can't be caught for real, so finish with a toy your cat can grab or a small treat.
Bugs on the screen: how it works
Cats can't resist bugs crawling on the screen. Each bug moves like the real thing: ants march in wobbly lines, beetles freeze and dash, and flies buzz in zigzags. Tap a bug and it runs for cover, then a new one crawls in.
- Phone or tablet: lay it flat on the floor, screen up, with the brightness turned up.
- Settings: start with slow speed and 3 bugs for a curious kitten; go fast with 8 bugs for a hunter.
- Protect the glass: a screen protector keeps claws from scratching it.
Watch mode: a bug video for cats on your TV
Choose Watch, start full screen, and cast or AirPlay the page to your TV. It works like a bug video for cats, except it never repeats and never stops for ads.
Questions about ants on the screen
Are ants on the screen good for cats?
For most cats, a few minutes of chasing bugs on a screen is fun exercise for their hunting instincts. Keep sessions short and finish with a real toy or treat.
Why do cats love bugs crawling on the screen?
Small, quick, stop-and-go movement looks like real prey. That twitchy motion catches a cat's eye more than color or detail.
What's the difference between Play and Watch?
Play reacts when your cat taps a bug. Watch is a calm, full-screen garden of bugs for a TV, with nothing to tap.
Why are the ants yellow?
Cats see yellows and blues best. Real ants are dark, but yellow ants on a dark ground are much easier for a cat to spot.
How do I leave full screen?
Hold the circle in the bottom corner for two seconds. On a computer, the Esc key works too.
